That film was just a bit scary... But have you come across Fangirl by Rainbow Powell? I read it a while ago now on my Kobo (just to see what downloading a "real" book was like), and I spotted it the other day in a bookshop and plan to go back and buy it. I wasn't particularly expecting to, but I really enjoyed it, and I loved that the author seemed to catch the essence of being a fan (plus it's a coming-of-age story, which I always like)! I can't remember whether I reviewed it - I suspect not - but I will do when I re-read!

I've never actually seen the film, tbh. LOL.

I've heard of Fangirl, at least it's ringing a bell somewhere in the addled recesses of my knackered brain. I don't remember you reviewing it but I may have missed it. I've just checked and Devon libraries doesn't have it. The Kindle edition is not too bad, price-wise, so I may treat myself at some stage as I really like the sound of it.

Did you ever read the Antonia Forest books?

I don't want to set you off on a quest because they are difficult to find these days, but if you are a fan of hers there's a read-through at Trennels http://trennels.livejournal.com/ you might enjoy.

Noooo. Just had a look on Fantastic Fiction and it lists 'The Marlow Family' series, so I assume these are what you mean. I shall investigate.

I 'do' now have Firedrake's Eye sitting on my tbr pile. Hope to get that soon. And am slowly reading books by Angela Thirkell, only two so far but loads more on the pile. I know you were the first ever person to mention her to me so 'thank you' for that - they're delightful.

I'm having a vintage crime year this year. Dorothy L. Sayers, Josephine Tey, Georges Simenon, Edmund Crispin, even A.A. Milne. All excellent. So many books and not enough time because when you hit 60 you start to wonder if you'll live long enough to read everything you want to read. LOL!
