Hard to do better than San Fran, really, if you can afford it. At least that's what I hear. Beautiful weather, thriving culture, staunch liberalism. I'm sure you'd love it.

On the other hand, don't let your silly sister keep you away from New York. It is the one true city, of which all others are but shadows. =)

Maybe. I'm pretty demoralized right now, still. I see the Kerry bumper stickers and signs around here and it makes me sad. What about you?
