Stress is Gone. I win!!!

So they decided to spring on me yesterday afternoon that they are using the service I've been writing for a completely different transaction type that I knew nothing about. Seems they figured it would just work. HA! So when they got the surrounding code working and sent the first test transaction through my service said (in a French accent) "I do not think so you silly people. I will not process that no way no how."

So I get a phone call in the afternoon telling me to make major code changes, which they described as if they are minor, and that, oh by the way, it needed to all be running now. HA! So I begin tinkering to make it all work and of course everything breaks. Such is my life. So I wound up working late, leaving the office only because my stomach threatened to eat my laptop. I then worked from home as well. ARGH! So I got up this morning and instead of getting ready and going to work I just plopped onto the couch with coffee and began working at like 7:30am. After a few hours I got really stuck so I decided to go into the office because I heard Laurance was around. We really like Laurance. He's crazy, but he explains things to me really well and is cool under pressure. I like Bonez but the whole calling every 5 minutes because you are stressed doesn't so much help my coding.

So when I get to the office Laurance is busy of course. I begin debugging again and within no time I have solved the first major hurdle and am on to the second. I set a ridiculous (at the time [Noon]) expectation that I'm have it all running between 1:30 - 2:00pm. This was mostly to get Bonez to stop calling me for an hour so I could work. I managed to get everything working perfectly, including their crap, by 2:30pm. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Laurance checked in a few times with his patented "You winning?" He cracks me up. I told him I finally understood what a GS segment is and what GS02 and GS03 are and why I had the wrong values. He was happy. he said the first few months on this project is tough because there is so much information like that to take in. "This is why when we get someone who knows what a GS is we don't let them leave. We are the Hotel California." HAHA!!! I told him that our Staffing Manager had asked about my end date (currently 9/2 on the books).

Laurance: "Did you tell him you don't really have one?"
Me: "I just laughed at him."
Laurance: "Yeah, that'll work."

YAY!!! He also told me that we have a bunch of new clients coming up. D.C., Kansas City (Go Chiefs!) and Minnesota. I told him I knew a nice girl that would be happy with my being in Minnesota for a week. He said we should have that client wrapped up by the end of the year so it is very possible that they'll need me out there on occassion. Kat, I'll keep you posted :-D

All in all it has been a good beginning to the week. Which is half over YAY! My working late yesterday significantly cut into my obligation for working on Friday which is happy. I do have to go to Quincy to drop off my car for her appt. She's spoiled. Back to the Dealership every 3000 miles for all scheduled maintenance. This is why she'll run until she rolls over a billion miles. Which is good, because she's not paid off yet :-D

Not sure what else is on tap for the weekend, but I imagine it will be chill. Maybe some fence building with John at Kell's, maybe some hanging with Jess and Bridget. We shall see. All I know is at this point the only way things could get better is if Mark comes down the hall with tickets for the game. If that happens I will be psyched.

Ok, off to entertain myself until I can leave in a few hours. This is the first night I will see Lisa in like 2 weeks. That is plenty reason to want to go home :-D
