The Buffer Overfloweth

It has been an interesting week here in the world of John.

Work:
Still a little boring. We still don't have connectivity to the payer so I can't submit test transactions to make sure that the program that submits them is doing it correctly and tweak anything that isn't working correctly. I know it at least maps them to what our understanding of a transaction is supposed to be and delivers them over FTP to a specified server. That currently being a loop back to my laptop since it was the only way to test even that much of the system. The guy who was supposed to run a few transactions through the system for us and give us the output files has yet to get them back to me. So I can't test the pickup, parsing and processing of a response file. That's nice. So I went ahead and created my own type of response which follows the standard and have been testing with that. At least I know the system can pick up a file, parse it and process the transactions. So assuming they're responses aren't odd in any way (which they will be) everything works. God I hate having to pretend that I personally am the payer server in order to have anything at all to do at work. These people take too goddamn long to process the business side of things. Yeah that system I got production ready in August under major fire and bugs, yeah it's still not being used in production because people are still crying and pouting over the business agreements. Morons!

Geek:
I went to the geek party last night. YAY! Five of us showed up to work with Kawika on the test systems which we will be setting up as a hack farm. We of course had hardware issue because they are old machines donated by the University. I wound up at one point with my hands in a case plugging and unplugging components as the machine booted telling everyone in the room "Never do this." It made me miss ResTech a lot. The thought process of getting around any and every bug the cheap way serves me well a lot. Also the methods of making hardware my bitch help a lot. :-D

I did find a few holes in my toolkit. I few times I found myself saying "My kingdom for X." So I intend to spend tonight filling in those holes. YAY!

Weekend:
Well, my weekend starts really soon. I love half day Fridays. I plan to run this quick test of the system at work, have some lunch and then jet at Noon. Then it is time to get my food shopping done and head home. This afternoon I plan to clean the kitchen and little bathroom before the game. Then I will watch the game and clean my room and the living room. Tonight is a geek night. Gonna play with a few things, get some reading done and beat my laptop for being stupid the other night (AKA I wasn't paying attention and upgraded a bunch of stuff I didn't want upgraded. Stupid machine doing what I told it to ;-D) I may also tweak the server to become a hack box. Haven't decided.

Tomorrow is class and then I am turning myself over to that boy I like. I told him it was his job to come up with our plan for the weekend. He's such an accomadating boyfriend. How he puts up with me I still don't know.

And I need it like a friend
Needs me for a friend
I can feel the time is right to find the legs
To deal with this alone
So I'll turn around to all and wave
