My first orchestra rehearsal is Monday night. I'm freaking out. I dropped $300 in the past two days on preparations for this - new strings, getting my pegs tightened, new rosin, a new tuner (I can still remember how to play Tarantella but I can't remember how to tune the instrument!), and some study books to try to quickly get me back up to

I've decided that when I finally get my B.S. (it will happen one day, I swear) I'm going to buy a cello and learn to play.
An old friend of mine used to play and it took me about 2 seconds to figure out the note alignment and once she showed me how to bow it was magic. I mean, most of that's doing to years of classical guitar training, but...
It's going to be awesome.

*hugs all* I reckon Brighty & Jilu should come out here and we'll find a viola player, and make a cello-heavy string quartet :) One of us cellists can play the 2nd violin part maybe? It'd be fun!
Firewitch, you're totally right about the frustratingness of remembering how to read music. I'm trying not to go with my instincts, 'cause my brain is sort of deciding what note should be next, rather than reading what's on the page. Grr again. But I'm getting through it. I might not TOTALLY suck Monday night...
