i was reading an article yesterday about how many women are now taking the 'real' birthcontrol pills from their packs and taking them every day. not skipping a week or what-have-you. and never having periods.

they interviewed a couple doctors, most said its perfectly safe, one said he wanted to see more studies. but apperently this has been going on for a while now with some women but is just now catching on in a bigger way.

it is safe, and i used to do it occasionally for those really inappropriate period times. but i tried it with my irish pillm and my body said no. now i'm off the pill completely. i feel better than i have in the 8 years i've been on it. my hormones may be a little crazier for two days, but my body is regulating itself.

I always crave lots of chocolate, ice cream, and warm pastries like apple crisp, and watch a lot of chick-flicks, including old black-and-whites.
Yeah, the horny-bitchy-sappy-wimpy thing?
Totally with ya.

on the advice of my doctor i do continuous birth control, in order to control some of the problems i have, both with my periods and my uterus in general. but i have to say i don't recommend it, and i'll be looking into alternative methods once i get home. my body wants to have its period and gets even more upset when it can't and i can feel the hormones all the time. it may be safe and all, but it doesn't *feel* right, is the only way i can describe it.

my grandma always used to give me mandarin orange tea (herbal) when i would have bad cramps, and that seemed to help. you might try avoiding caffeine too--that makes the pain worse (caffeine makes your blood vessels constrict, and that can intensify the cramping). also, i've learned (long story) that if your are on the pill it might be the hormones making your PMS worse--you might consider switching or lowering the dose.

hope this helps some--i'm sending some good vibes your way
:)

i tried doing continuous birth control, and my body actually refused and still got my period. now, after 8 years, i'm off the pill... finally! woot!

that's me when i come home. yay!
also, i didn't mean to come off as all miss-know-it-all-y, i just thought i'd throw in my 2 cents after reading your other comments. perhaps i'm a bit sensitive to the know-it-all effect after a comment my ex left for me on one of my posts. gagh, after nearly 7 years apart, he still thinks of me as that naive 19 year-old.

sorry, ranting. what i mean to say is, if i did offend, i do sincerely apologize.

no, don't be silly! you didn't offend at all. i made the post without specifying my brithcontrol methods ---which is just condoms at the mo -- or my reasons for my choices. ;) don't you worry. i am not easily offended!

I WISH I had my period once a month...try every freakin' 21 days ever since I can remember. And it's lasting 5-7 days now (used to be 2-3). Lately it seems like I'm ALWAYS on the rag. I honestly thought this month that I would consult my doctor to do something to end my periods altogether. It's getting a bit old now 27 years later! I am seriously tired of the pms, the spending time just dealing w/ the mess, etc etc etc. I'm NOT having any more kids, so why is the monthly misery even necessary? Ya know, when I was pregnant it is quite heavenly for 9 months to not even have to think one minute about it.
