Molly

Molly Ivins crossed over today. Check out the Texas Observer for her obituary. Sharp, intelligent, Texan, hilarious, astute, red-haired, six feet tall, amazing, awesome, and now gone. Among her parting instructions: "Raise more hell." And a reminder: "We are the people who run this county. We are the deciders...."

Thank you for this link. I am in shock (as are millions who loved her. I really thought that she was going to beat that damn disease and remain with us. First Ann Richards and now, Molly. Two very special women whom we could not afford to lose but death doesn't ask, does he? Death just takes.

I was out in public when I heard the news, and I started tearing up pretty seriously. I am tearing up all over again now. I somehow wasn't ready for it, despite her ill health.

I liked her. I remember reading her reaction to her first round of breast cancer. Something like, "I whined all the way through it, made everyone do what I wanted, and hated the nice lady from the cancer society." :)
