I feel the same way! I didn't know there was a second hurricane until yesterday x.x I think we're living in an academic bubble. I feel so out of touch with the world.

Yeah, it feels weird to be separated from everything that's going on down there. Lot's of drama. The hurricane stuff is awful. The only way I remember it is through my google news and fund raisers on campus.
Damn "academic bubble".

I left last night. I go to school in Huntsville, if ya remember. So yeah, they cancelled classes and didn't tell us anything except that we're not sleeping in our rooms until the hurricane is over. Everyone's freaking out over there. And here. The governments estimating that the electricty is goinbg to go out for awhile here in Austin too.

I think people are over worrying, but that's just my gut feeling. In the news it's been taking people 14 hours to get to places that usually only take 45. They're evacuating people from lower places (duh) to College Station and Huntsville and stuff. Hotels/Motels are full. We're supposed to be getting A LOT of rain in Austin and here in San Marcos. It's kind of freaky. We'll probably lose power and stuff. My mum went to buy water and stuff, but 4 stores were out.

Makes me kind of wish I was in the big brick of Westwood, that's a safe place...heh...anyways, I haven't really been able to keep up with the news either because of work, homework and my rommate's MTV obsession...

My University has issued emergency procedures to us all for the weekend. The kids in the apartments are going to have to stay in the Gym and everyone in dorms will be sleeping on the first floor. O.o I'm getting worried only because everyone else is so worried. They also have emergency rations of water and food ready.

Dunno though. I mean, Austin? How bad can it get this far North? We've had tornados with worse windspeeds than this.
