Whew. I had a short weekend this week. Worked Friday and Saturday nights, then someone decided to add 2nd shift on Monday and Tuesday. I really wish I could sleep sometime =p

Sleep! Sleep! Maybe you were too tired to appreciate The Hobbit?? Admittedly, there were parts that I wasn't fond of but that's because I was uncomfortable with the growing greed of Thorin. Yes, it fit the books. But it still rattled me for some reason. :)
The reason for the puppy lessons was to help Jack learn to focus more. While he can be focused and single minded, he is easily distracted and overwhelmed. I know that probably sounds odd. But he is a hound.
We have about 10 berry bushes atm. I am looking to add more. I trade what we do not use with a local farmer for vegetables.
Last year our garden was a test. 100ft x 50 ft planted with a little bit of everything. The squash took off well, but not much else did. I think our location was off. So we are taking this year off and preparing a nice area for next year. Raised beds, away from the livestock, with water nearby. I am too old to tote water 500 ft up a hill every day =p.
I am also adding more native flowering bushes for the bees and butterflies.
my vegetable garden is about 15'x25', plus two 12'x4' raised beds. i also have a small strawberry patch, raspberry patch, and 4 baby pear trees that will be 5 years old this coming spring. i have a small flower patch out front. and a 6'x9' greenhouse that i'm still figuring out how to use. this year i hope to get electricity wired from the garage, a small heater in there, and get the vents installed. i live in the suburbs so i have a decent sized yard, but no land for livestock.
I have got to do some raised beds. #1 to help with harvest time. But #2 the field grass is stubborn. And I mean stubborn. We are actually moving the garden over the next year to a new locaiton. This new location is covered in trees atm (that need to be thinned anyway). Due to the location, it will get plenty of sun, but we won't have to deal with the hay grasses being all around the location. AND it will be close to the water. We do not prevent the deer from munching, they do not take much, really, so we do not need fences and such.
We are trying to get the power company out to put in access in that area for the new barn.

I did LOVE the Iron Mountain Dwarf setup.
I think part of my problem was it felt rushed at some times and too slow at others. It seemed a bit off in timing.

I remember those puppy lessons though my husband did most of the actual classes.
