We now have a mini ton of alpacas...

One year ago we had 3...

Now we have 14?  I think...

Apart from putting them in shows where they win blue ribbons do you do anything with them?

I'm assuming that you sell their wool and make a reasonable amount of money from that - at least enough to pay for their upkeep, if not more. I guess they don't cost much to keep as they just roam around and nibble what's growing on their field?

As you can tell I know nothing about alpacas.

They are very beautiful animals with their big eyes. Because of that and other reasons I strongly suspect that you don't eat them. They all have names...they are family pets...

Actually in most countries they are eaten. Not in the US yet. They are still considered exotic.

Their fleece is warmer than wool and most who are allergic to wool can wear alpaca.
