A lot of attention is given to the Maldives nowadays, but what about the U.S.?  With climate change/AGW*, we're going to lose these cities in the next few decades:

New York    33 ft
Norfolk    7 ft
Charleston      20 ft
Jacksonville      16 ft
Miami       6 ft

Kitti, I'm always puzzled when I read things like this, because you use the word "disaster". The oceans have been rising and falling since there have been oceans. Yes, I do think climate change will affect the shape of this continent, but it's not likely to be a drastic change (unless there's an earthquake or some other catastrophe) and I think humans are infinitely adaptable. Yes, it will mean change. Possibly lots of change. Change is scary to lots of people, but this is fairly gradual change ( ... )

Nature's timescale for oceans rising and falling is vastly different from the time scale we're seeing with AGW. If nature had taken its course, we would have seen another ice age in about 75,000 years. It's been about 10 to 20,000 years since the last ice age ebbed and the ice began to recede ( ... )
