Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Six Part Seven Part Eight Part Nine

Hyukjae is lightly shaken awake when they reach their destination (minus Yoochun, who they must have dropped at his house on the way there), and he and Junsu help each other out of the van and towards the dorm because they’re as tired as each other. Junsu heads towards his bedroom and Hyukjae follows sleepily. Junsu kicks his shoes and socks off and unbuttons his blazer. Then he unbuttons his trousers, seemingly unembarrassed by Hyukjae being there. He flops onto his bed in just a tank top and his boxers. Hyukjae hovers in the doorway, not sure what to do.

The two beds in the room are next to each other, Jaejoong’s covered in his clothes, and Junsu frowns at it for a moment before whinging, “Don’t just stand in the doorway! Come in~!”

Hyukjae shuffles in and shuts the door behind him before he shucks his shoes and tugs off the tights, letting his legs breathe. He pulls off the mask, shades and wig and just drops them to the ground. He looks down at what he’s wearing and wonders if he should take it off. He’s wearing briefs underneath, but they feel strange and it’s odd to wear them in public, even if “public” is just Junsu, who has probably seen him naked before, a long time ago, when they were kids (he’s sure he’s seen Junsu naked too, which is probably why Junsu has no problems with undressing in front of him).

“Hyuk,” Junsu complains without opening his eyes, and it’s the first time he’s proved he knows who Hyukjae is (even though Hyukjae never doubted him). “For heaven’s sake. You’re such a girl. Come here!” Hyukjae scurries over, and Junsu sits up with a yawn. He laughs when he sees Hyukjae. “You look ridiculous,” he tells his friend. “Do you have breasts in this thing?” He gropes the t-shirt awkwardly, trying to stuff his hand down the shirt.

“Closest you’re ever going to get to any,” Hyukjae mumbles, and pulls back so he can tug the offending object over his head, but Junsu gets there before him and hikes the dress up, shoves it up over his head. There’s an awkward moment where Hyukjae can’t help but feel like this is like a young virgin teenaged boy’s first attempt at sex, with the boyfriend trying to help the girl undress and not fumble with her bra clasp. (He is definitely the girlfriend, but when has he not been? It’s not like this is surprising.)

He shakes it out of his head when Junsu murmurs, “Briefs, you wear briefs? Of all people, you?”

“No,” he replies, “I was wearing tights; I couldn’t wear boxers with them.”

Junsu laughs and tugs Hyukjae down on to the bed beside him. He fumbles with the covers and somehow they’re beneath the covers and Junsu’s arms are tight around his waist and his legs are twining with Hyukjae’s.

Hyukjae feels like this is where he belongs.

---

He wakes up a few hours later, thinking he should probably have told Leeteuk he was staying with Junsu, because don’t they have activities today? He supposes Leeteuk will have made an excuse to explain his absence. He’s good at that sort of thing.

He stretches and that’s when he realises the bed is empty beside him. He sits up and looks around. Junsu’s room looks really messy. Two suitcases are open on the floor. One of them is half empty and the other is still full. It looks like Junsu was unpacking and then gave up. Hyukjae’s dress is folded neatly at the foot of the bed and Hyukjae is wondering whether he should put it back on when he remembers that the last time he was here he left some clothes behind. He scurries over to Junsu’s wardrobe and rifles through it, sighing happily when he finds the blue and white striped t-shirt and dark blue jeans he’d left. They’re simple but they’re comfortable and they fit and best of all they’re boys’ clothes (any more reminders of him being a girl and he doesn’t know what he’ll do). He dresses quickly and then examines his hair in the mirror. It’s a mess, but he doesn’t have a beanie or a brush to hand (he’s sure Junsu has one, but he doesn’t know where to look) so he combs through it with his fingers and that’ll have to do.

He opens the bedroom door and pokes his head around it, checking to see if there’s anyone in the hallway. He can hear noises at the end of the corridor and scuffles down the hall, barefooted, towards them.

Junsu, Yunho and Ayako are sitting on the couches (Junsu with one couch to himself, his legs along the length of it), chatting quietly, and there’s bustling in the kitchen. Hyukjae recognises Jaejoong’s voice coming from there and assumes he’s cooking something, and probably talking to Changmin.

“Was that Kanojo, in the car?” Ayako asks. Hyukjae stays outside of the room, hiding behind the door, so he can listen.

“Mm,” Junsu murmurs.

“It was? That’s sweet, she came to meet you.”

“Junsu has a girlfriend?” Yunho asks.

“Well,” Junsu mumbles. “Yeah, but it’s just, you know-”

“Yeah, for a while now,” Ayako tells Yunho over Junsu. “I’ve talked to her on the phone.”

“But what about-?” Yunho asks. “I mean, aren’t you and-?”

“Mm, we are,” Junsu says. “That’s-”

“Then who’s this girl?”

“Kanojo is-”

Hyukjae, who is very confused because he doesn’t understand where this conversation is going at all, can tell that Junsu is starting to get nervous and so he interrupts by walking in, yawning.

Junsu looks up when Hyukjae enters and grins. “Whose idea was the dress?” he asks between chuckles, now he’s awake enough to coherently get his point across.

“Heechul-hyung’s,” Hyukjae replies, flopping onto the couch next to Junsu, who moves his legs down automatically to give him space. “I was too tired to complain.”

At the frown on Yunho’s face, Junsu says, “Why are you confused?”

“What are you talking about?” Yunho asks.

“The girl in the van; that was Hyuk,” Junsu explains. (“Kanojo!” Ayako says.) He blinks. “You mean you didn’t know?” He seems surprised. “But didn’t Ayako-san just tell you-?”

“I didn’t know,” Yunho says. “Neither did Jaejoong or the other boys. I didn’t know she was saying that either.”

“How did you know, Junsu-kun?” asks Ayako. “Looking at him now, you’d have no idea he was the same person. I only realised now, because, well-”

Junsu turns to look at Hyukjae, who is still tired, even though he’s not the one who’s just flown in from Japan at an ungodly time this morning, and is leaning slightly against him.

“I’d know his ugly face anywhere,” he says with a snort, and Hyukjae can’t find the energy to protest, so he just lets it slide. He’ll get Junsu back later. Instead, he places his head on Junsu’s shoulder and shuts his eyes. “Hey, you just slept!” (“Yeah, with you,” Ayako murmurs, and Hyukjae is too tired to work out if there’s innuendo in that or not. Junsu just ignores her in favour of more pressing matters, like the fact Hyukjae is using him as a pillow.) He tries to shove Hyukjae off his shoulder and Hyukjae makes an undignified yelp in annoyance, which makes Ayako giggle. Junsu pushes Hyukjae’s head forward, and the boy falls into his lap, almost fully asleep. Junsu groans in defeat and lets Hyukjae stay there until he wakes up an hour later.
