Day 3...

Aug 20, 2021 08:42

Day 3, Sunday, was originally Dink's official "Move In Day" (as it was a for everyone), but the apartment management got Dink's apartment ready early, so we were able to move her in on Saturday night. It took a few false starts figuring out how to get to the apartment from the parking garage, because the garage served two buildings that didn't ( Read more... )

The parking garage had the advantage of having the same levels as the apartment building has floors

Wonderful!

I wish I could meet Jude the Adorable Goldendoodle, but I fear I'd spoil him rotten. I love the enthusiasm and excitement that dogs show when their favorite people come home.

I'm not sure you *could* spoil Jude! He's just so incredibly sweet and gentle. I'm so glad Dink has a dog in her life still. :)

It sounds like she is going to settle in well - and where you stayed was really nice, too.

We were fortunate not to have any major missteps regarding lodging like we did with our last trip, when a reservation had gone astray and we had to scramble to find a hotel room. Two of the houses were a bit old and a bit musty, but it wasn't bad enough to be a bother, fortunately.

Ooo, very nice that the parking garage for her place will let her go straight in and out like that without navigating elevators or stairs. Should make managing groceries and such that much easier. I'd love to see pics of her place in its finished state if she'll share!

Man, all the talk of Florida and nature photos are making me really want to visit there again. I've only been a couple of times, and well over 15 years ago at that, but I have such good memories of being there.

I was soooo glad for the same level parking. I think most of the apartment complexes I saw in that area had garages, but it looked like a lot of them were under the complex and so you had to go up in elevators/stairs. They did a nice job designing hers.

Florida is just so beautiful, at least to me. It's not spectacularly so, like Hawaii, but the coasts and the palm trees and the Spanish moss... it all just speaks to me. :)

It sounds like Dink got into a good living situation, and with a dog, which is all to the better. I hope she has a marvelous year ahead of her.

I hope she has a good year, too. Right now she's in that limbo period where classes/job haven't started yet... that will be next week, and hopefully it won't bring her crashing back down to earth too badly.

That all sounds very painless, and rather fun. I hope Dink settles in well.

It was fairly painless, if you don't count the "having to leave my daughter" bit (and even that was mitigated by all the time we spent together the three weeks beforehand, after she'd quit her job and was home all day). We couldn't have asked for a smoother trip, really.
