When I was a freshman in college, I was bitten by a brown recluse in the arm. It completely freaked me out. Completely.
But then I decided that what didn't kill me (and it could have) must make me stronger. I started studying them, and appreciating them, and then finally -- collecting them. Now, they are everywhere. I have a sterling spider earring that I have only taken out for surgeries that I've had since 1993.
Some people collect fluffy bunnies. I collect spiders.
Pretty kitty! And I love the magnet map--that's a great idea. ^_^ I read your explanation for collecting spiders and I think that's really neat. It's interesting how an incident like that can affect us. It makes for an unusual hobby/collection.
