Surgical Update with picture links

Jun 09, 2009 13:58

I am a week late getting to this because I knew that it was going to be a long post and I kinda felt too lazy to type it all up.  And now I've procrastinated and it's going to be even longer.  What a slack-ass I am!

Anyway.... Onto the disclaimers: Please be warned that when you click on the links, you will see Caitriona semi-nudity. If you are ( Read more... )

Oh, honey, God bless you! The bruising alone is enough for me to know that kind of surgery is not for me. Trust me, having little people cut out of your abdomen is easier. You're a real trooper to share your pics with us. I'm glad they kept you overnight. I am not a fan of the rush to send patients home after surgery. Your bad Darvocet experience is exactly why. It looks like your results are going to be wonderful, though. ^_^ What size will you be when all the swelling is gone? (Hey, I just looked at booby pictures--I'm allowed to ask that, right? ^_~) Keep taking it easy and don't push yourself!

The bruising alone is enough for me to know that kind of surgery is not for me.

Surprisingly, the visible bruises are nothing. I've got some internal ones around my bra line that can't be seen at all, but boy can I feel them. These bright, deep purple bruises are mainly from blood seepage, not from true trauma. They itched while they were healing up.

What size will you be when all the swelling is gone?

Right now I'm at a 40D and my surgeon said that I should probably end up with a 38C+ or 38D-. I think that I will be more like a small D. I feel that most of the swelling has finished going down in the actual breast, but I can still feel some puffiness around the edges and around my ribs.

I called my MD during this week and told them to put a big note that said "No Darvocet" on my chart. Blargh!

I don't blame you for that one at all. I've got a stubborn infection in my colon...second round of Flagyl and Levaquin. This time they put me on Zofran for the nausea, and it's working. I'm allergic to both Augmentin and Bactrim, which I could have had as an alternative...and if I can get this cleared up enough, they're going to scope me, my least favorite prep of all...

Oh no! I haven't even started catching up on things so I didn't know you were sick. That sucks greatly! Much sympathy for you. Colitis is yucky.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and wish you luck during the night of 1000 waterfalls.

After seeing all this, I am REALLY tempted to just say "The heck with it, I'll just stick with my big'n'floppies." I really hope the end results are worth it, because THAT is a LOT of bruising!

Gentle cyber-hugs! Keep us posted!

The bruising, which is now all but gone, was mainly from blood seepage. This means that it really didn't hurt. Promise! I have found that it isn't the big purple bruises that cause the pain. It's those pale blue bruises that look like their under a couple of layers of skin. Those are the ones caused by trauma and hurt for so long. These pretty purple ones just itched a lot and spread so rapidly. They are all but gone now - a little yellow around the edges only.

Hugs!

After watching all the surgery shows, I see now they never let you see all of this. You are so brave to share your pics and I'm sure the end results will be worth all of it. I'm glad you stayed overnight too. It's the insurance companies, not the doctors that want to ship everyone home ASAP. I'm glad you are feeling better and relax!

I think that if I had ever seen the bruising like this I would have been more than a little scared. I know that this kind of bruising isn't the kind that really "hurts." I would have just tried to talk myself out of it for 10 more years! :)

I don't feel particularly brave, but thanks anyway. When I was looking around for information, they showed a lot of before and after pics, but I couldn't really find any of the 1st week and the like. I didn't know what to expect of my body in that sense.

I also have had people ask me privately about what things "looked" like. I don't care to show. I can just imagine what Monday at work is going to be like. :)
