One of my co-workers that has been here FOREVER announced today that she's retiring. It completely messed with my fung shui and world view. I'm now the person that has been at the office the longest. WTF

Might I suggest refraining from reading/watching news over the situation in Japan a bit. I just had to, this week, when I noticed I couldn't cope.
My own life has made me miserable lately too, and I think of those risking their lives in Japan and all my petty health worries seem so meaningless. Yet I can't help but think that with all the work those brave men do, they might not be remembered. Lot's of people died in Tsernobyl too, and who remembers them?
I tried not to watch, but then it seemed like I was forgetting before it even began. I dunno. Everyone that I know personally over there is fine, but then I start thinking that it could have been them. I dunno.
I have a friend whose fortitude I admire. She forced herself not to be up to date with the news from Japan to finish a study assignment. And then she felt bad about it. These hard times kind of make me wish I'd been born at another time...
