Peeps. They are sugary. They're kinda cute. They're yellow (well, ours are.)

When you put them in the microwave, they get big.

Their bodies blow up to huge blobs until they break open at the top, which makes them look like a baked potato with ranch dressing on top.

They also get huge heads, and they start feeling really fluffy and gooey ( Read more... )

I know! And they're even more gros after they've been mocrowaved.... but something was still urging me to eat them. And now I feel sick. Stupid? Yes. Surprising? No. :)

I would buy peeps just to watch them in the microwave. Other than that, I can't stand to eat them. I think they're disgusting.

On a side note, my mom loves the darn things. When my nephew was three years old (or so) he, my mom and his mom went to the store, bought some peeps and when they were leaving, my mom was trying to give Aaron one to eat, but he didn't want it. So my mom showed him that you could eat it and bit the head off of it. Aaron started crying like there was no tomorrow. It wasn't funny at the time, but looking back on it, it's hilarious. =)

I dislike the entire "marshmallowy" genre.

Even circus peanuts!

(And I love my microwave too much to explode things in it.)

They don't explode. They just expand. Slowly, and without a bang or anything. It's clean, really. And fun to watch. :)

Gah! That's freaky. What are the odds of a mass-Peeps-microwavery? I think my favorite bit is when you take them out and watch them melt, Wicked Witch style, with their beady-eyes and still sharp beaks glowering menacingly, promising sugary revenge...

Peep melting is one of the coolest things ever. Watch them go down in a sugary lump of sweet bitterness.... to see them fade away like that, it's almost an out of body experience. Meditate over that!
