Times are hard for dreamers

Jenny just saw Amelie for the first time ever. She loved it, just like every human being with a heart should.

When she told me she hadn't seen it before I knew that we had to watch it right now. I mean, what better moment is there? We're all about making people happy lately, especially since we found the glamourbombs community ( Read more... )

Amelie is SUCH a good movie. I need to get it as soon as possible and start watching it monthly... if not weekly. It's just happy! (And I'm a big francophile, too, so that helps.) It definitely makes you want to make others happy, which is something we should all feel more often.

Well, you should go to my post in that glamourbomb community and see if there's anyone that Jenny and I can make happy. :)

And Jenny is probably going to buy the movie, so we can see it when I'm back in Memphis is April. And I hope your book will still be here, I wanna see it! :)

Hey, I love Amelie too! I'm also Cait - although usually caity. So you like altered books too?

I absolutely adore altered books! Actually, I just started altering my first book last night. It's kinda hard in the beginning, when you don't really want to hurt the book... but I'm sure I'm gonna have lots of fun. :)

I feel that way about making fun of movies! I don't really want to hurt the movie, but I wind up having lots of fun.

Okay, so I'm talking about something completely different. I'll go stand in the corner now. ';P

(But my curiosity is peeked, or peaked, or piqued, or whatever. How and/or why would one alter a book? Just the cover?)

Why? Cos I can! Cos I like the idea of books being recycled into art - even MY art.

HOw? Paint, carve, glue, smoosh, add, subtract, bend, fold, spindle, mutilate, bead, stamp, stomp, splodge, write, uncover, cover up, opaque. translucent... oh yeah baby. Altered Books. If you want to a gorgeous one look at this to start with:

I think someone recommended this movie to me a while back, but I haven't seen it at the library yet, which is the only place I borrow movies from. (I don't have a movie rental card any more, and I know none of my friends have it.)

If I ever come across a used-video version of it at the "Used video store", maybe I'll get it.

I saw a note below mention "francophile". I hope the movie doesn't have Gerard Depardieu, as I haven't yet forgiven him for "My Father The Hero".

I couldn't find the movie "Amelie" on IMDB, though I did find "Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain". Same one? If so, it ranks #18 among the "Top 250 Movies Rated By People Wandering Onto IMDB From The Internet". Pretty impressive!

(Oh, and I can't think of anyone who needs cheering up whom you don't know. I suppose that's a good thing, though, right? Unless it just shows how terribly unobservant I am and/or how bad my memory is at the moment.)

Yep, that's the movie. It's subtitled, yes. But it is oh so worth it. Aww.
