Ironically enough, or perhaps fittingly enough, "People Who Died" is still his best-known song. It was on the radio the other night. It's still a jukebox staple in the few punk bars left standing in NYC.

For a while I carried around a beat-up, dogeared copy of Fear of Dreaming with me, with salient bits underlined. It was one of my few possessions during the Lost Years, since if things didn't fit in my backpack or guitar cases I tended not to have it for long. That book, though? Took it everywhere.
