His mentioning of Harry Potter when I was taking Religion, Magic & Witchcraft with him as a sophomore is actually what got me to read them. I'd mentally written them off as kids' books and just some fad, but I decided that if Ed took them seriously enough to lecture about them, they had to be worth reading. (Plus I thought he was really hot, so I'd read whatever he wanted me to if it meant I could have an intelligent conversation with him.)
I was doing a tutorial with him while he was writing his book and got to read drafts of each chapter as he wrote it. It was really cool.
