Life, Work, Career, Joy, Family & Happiness; it's not about the money, right? I love what Zig Ziglar says "Money is not the most important thing in life, but it's right up there with oxygen"

What are your thoughts and perceptions about money?

We THINK it's right up their with oxygen...but it's not.

My missionary uncle told me this week of a humble 20-something year old man he met recently in Indonesia who has 22 orphaned kids in his care along with 29 Bible college students he is teaching and providing for. They are planting churches all across Indonesia. And if that's not enough, he broadcasts daily Christian radio programs from his property.

He has no income. He loves by faith because he has no other option. He teaches the kids to garden and miraculously people seem to keep bringing things "unexpectly" to them.

Everyday God provides for them.

That is a great story and an excellent point 1CB, but someone has to purchase the stuff, right? I have western eyes, and i don't live on the mission field, though stories like these stir my heart with gladness, i see people here living in boxes, eating at the soup kitchens and can't even dress themselves for the cold weather coming up. I know i can't change everyone's life, but i wonder if there is a way to change "One" life.

I'm not trying to be dogmatic, but i really do wonder what the heart of God is in this matter.

To quote Dave Ramsey "money is a-moral, it only reveals the true intent of the man who has it"

ANYONE ELSE HAVE SOME THOUGHTS?

Love of money is the root of all evil, but money itself is simply a medium of exchange. Money is not evil. God loved Solomon and made him the wealthiest man of his time. How one VIEWS money can be the problem. As long as God is first in one's life, money is of no consequence. It can be there or not. I just went through a devastating time, but God was there. I never ran out of food, and bills were paid. What is $60,000 to God? He'll take care of my hospital bills, too. He has taken care of everything else ( ... )

The actual scripture you quoted from 1 Tim 6:10 reads like this... "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil." Sorry to be a nit-picker, but money is not THE root of ALL evil.

God cast Lucifer out of heaven because of his PRIDE and that was because of the "splendor of his beauty" (according to Isaiah)... now we could definately have a few things to say about that, just go anywhere in public and you can see people watching themselves in the hopes of getting a reflection in a mirror or department store glass front or shiney marble wall...I see it all the time and shake my head, but i digress :-)

I like your last statement that describes wealth, it is subjective isn't it? AND i too see more greed with the "have not's" than i see with the "have's" at least here in the USA. OR maybe i am just blessed to be around a bunch of giving people, either way, I cannot speak for those in other countries.

The KJV says: "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

A translation of the Greek says, "For a root of all evils is the love of money..."

Sometimes, it is good to nitpick the finer points of the Word. I had not realized that the article 'a' was in the text.

I guess i just consider as does the bible, PRIDE as the mack daddy of all sin... it is what drives the natural and carnal nature of man to do all sorts of wrongs, and be able to justify them all.

Pride of life, Power, and Lust the deadly three in my way of thinking and then begin a very long book behind them all and we will never be able to name all the sins, but the ONE NAME that is above all names of everything of course is JESUS, to which all will bow one day!

HAVE A REALLY REALLY BLESSED DAY!

Got to go out and make some money (pun intended)
