Recently while hanging out in some outskirts* neighborhoods (Lake City, South Seattle, West Seattle), I thought, not for the first time, that I would consider living in such places if the public transportation in this town didn't SUCK so much.  Living in many neighborhoods is pretty much out of the question if you don't have a car, and  even if you ( Read more... )

Indeed. Three cheers for the Seattle brand of ineffective leadership -- bringing you a quarter-finished rail line from Jackson Street to the airport (sort of) since 1979.

Who calls Lake City a suburb? I do recall, though, that when I was little, I thought "West Seattle" was a separate city, but that had to do with my mom making a big production about "yay, we're going to WEST SEATTLE to visit [fun family friends]!!" and such was one of the few occasions we took the Viaduct anywhere.
