Not me, the laundry.
* I had a random selection of stuff that needed washing, and given that it could be a busy week at any time now, I thought I'd get some wash done. Various undergarments, socks, white t-shirts with print on them (cookieman's, essentially undershirts) plus some cream muslin squares I bought online for baby use. Some of the socks were dark, but as I often do, I threw them into the mostly light-coloured load anyway, because I assumed they were old and long past their bleed-by date.
Boy, was I wrong. We must've bought new socks semi-recently for him, I don't know, but everything that was white came out with a blue tie-dye effect. I picked them out from the rest of the load, cursed my luck, and washed them again.
Did I say I picked them out from the rest of the load? Actually, I meant except for the one navy blue sock that was buried in a t-shirt. so. yeah. At least they're now all a uniform shade of blue...
* I've been buying some random stuff on Ebay (see aforementioned muslin squares), and my most recently-won auction was for a set of little stuffed animals which match the crib set I already have. The set (the Real Love John Lennon collection, pimped out by Yoko yes, but very cute. Also, completely different from the US version, strangely enough) is no longer in production over here, so secondhand is about the only way to find any matching bits for it. Anyway, I was excited about the set of toys, as they're pretty cute (
here is the turtle from the set; click on the seller's shop if you want to view the whole set. No, I didn't pay nearly that much for the one I got), and this person was selling a set of 5-6 random animals. Each one jingles, or makes a crinkly sound, and whatever even if the baby doesn't like them, I do.
I won the auction at the last minute. I tend to bid late, because I've lost many items to other people who bid late. I know sellers hate people like me, but I don't really care. If I want the item, it's the only way I'm going to get it. I still put in whatever my proxy bid would have been, I just don't wait for someone else to come along and jack it up a while.
The seller was in touch quickly, I paid via PayPal, and she posted them off the next day. They arrived today, and they're lovely. Excellent feedback all around. Then, in our email exchange (I just responded to whatever she said last, which was informing me of the posting), she mentioned that the guy who didn't win the auction had offered her twice the winning bid for her to mail HIM the items, and if I wanted his information to re-sell them on to him she'd pass it along. She went on to say that the guy was playing the pity card, "I promised my daughter she'd have them!" ugh.
Well, sorry buddy, but if you'd been willing to pay 30 GBP for the stuffed animals, then you should have had that as your proxy bid, especially if you made such a promise to your kid. I certainly would not have come close to your bid. Mine was 20, I got them for 16, so that was clearly your maximum. And if you made the promise, well, now you should go ahead and pay more to the other person selling the same items on Ebay. I personally think you're a big fat liar. so there.
* I am making chicken (ah, turkey) and dumplings today in the slow cooker. Anyone have any recipes they'd like to share that don't involve snotty cream of something soup? This seems to have come out pretty good, so I'm not complaining, but I wouldn't mind a recipe that isn't dependent on pre-packaged goods I don't usually have around the house. Plus, cream of chicken soup smells like dog food and looks worse coming out of the can.
