We went to Wriggly Readers this morning. The local library does a half hour sing-a-long/ storytime for babies and toddlers every Tuesday at 10am. Cookieman was able to go to work late today, so he came along, as well.
It was fun, as usual. Towards the end, the dude decided to stretch his legs (knees?) a bit and crawl around the pile of kids in the middle of the room. Once he was done there, he noticed the vast expanse of library beyond the children's section, and made a break for it. I followed him, of course. It was sweet to see how excited he was to see so much open space. :D
I should add, this was late morning on a weekday, so almost no other people were in the library that weren't..
1) with the baby/toddler group
2) retired
3) asleep
4) unemployed and surfing for porn using the computers in the far corner to look for jobs (and we didn't make it anywhere near this group)
So I let him have a bit of crawling freedom. No one was near (though a friend of his saw this dash and was hesitantly making her way behind us.) He goes for ages, then veers a bit and comes close to two old guys, where he stops and looks up. Now, I think this looks adorable, because it looks like he's ready to give them his opinion on whatever they were talking about. However, he decides it's boring, and moves on. This stop was extremely brief. One of them then turns to the other and says "you know, one of the things that's wrong with this country is that no one disciplines their children."
sorry, I'm still lolling about this. God knows, the path to a stack of
ASBOs is begun with a crawl through the local library.
Okay, I realize he's my child and everything he does is adorable to me, but I recognize that there are limits. I would not let him crawl through..
* a restaurant
* the side of a pool
* a train station
* a busy airport
* a boardroom
* the middle of a road
* the legs of someone juggling knives and/or fire
* etc
However, this was screaming toddler time at the library, and he wasn't even screaming. He wasn't weaving through throngs of library patrons, as there were no other patrons in sight other than these two codgers men. I know, it sure would be nice if things were like the good old days where everyone was old or whatever was so great about those days.
It's just a shame he had a nappy on or maybe he could have wee'd on them. !
Not much else is happening here. I have had my broken tooth fixed, and have another dental appointment in a week or so for something minor. I'm getting everything checked out while I still have my Free Dental Work pass from the NHS. (all new mums and mums-to-be get this. Don't ask me why; I don't know.)
We went to a party this weekend for the first time in ages, and it was fun. The couple throwing the party also has a baby (I know the mum from my bfing group, and cookieman knows the guy from work), and it was nice to see how much she's grown since the last time we saw her.
I don't have anything Thanksgiving-y planned, but I bet I'll end up roasting a turkey breast at some point this week.
