So, I don't have one of those "baby's 1st Christmas" ornaments, but I feel as if I should. It doesn't appear to be a particularly big thing over here in the UK (probably another holiday thing created by Hallmark back home? I don't know) so I'm not seeing too many examples I'm happy with. I'd like it to be sturdy, so a glass bauble is out of the question. Indeed, why would you make something commemorative like that out of the most delicate substance possible? whatever. It's the only option I've really seen here.
I had a look on Ebay UK, and went on to Ebay US to see what was available there. On one of the two sites, I re-discovered Lenox ornaments, as well as Waterford. Waterford is something my mum has always liked, so I had a look for whatever the Waterford baby ornament for 2009 is. And I found it. Previous years have been crystal toy teddy bears, or rocking horses, prams, etc. This year? It's a
baby bottle.
The price isn't bad. I would seriously have likely bought one straightaway had it been anything other than a bottle. And I'm certainly not saying the other option should be a crystal pair of boobs or anything. :D However, since he hasn't been fed with a bottle, it just seems a bit odd. Yes, I know it's a popular symbol of babydom, but it's managed to irk me all the same. Maybe I'll change my mind, I don't know.
In the meantime, I think I need a project for making a Christmas ornament for the dude. If anyone has a link for a crafty sort of site, I'd love any suggestions. thanks!
