2009, what can I say...
Obviously, the predominant theme this year was becoming a mum. I gave birth to my tiny dude on February 20th. Despite complications (2 litres of blood lost total, if we include the hematoma afterward, which we do) it was an amazing experience. I still remember holding my little grumpy dude for the first time. "WHY IS IT SO COLD AND DRY OUT HERE THIS SUCKS." Our first few nights alone together were stressful on the feeding front, but also had their sweet moments. I vividly recall him trying to casually attach himself without me noticing at one point. (no, that's not likely what he was thinking, but it's what he looked like - pointing his eyes in the side direction like "oh I'm sure that thing over there on the wall is very interes-MILK YUM")
The first couple of months were a bit of a sleepless blur. Watching him develop has been wonderful. I remember him finally doing a little bunnyhop/crawl thing for the first time, and being SO excited about it. It was just so amazing to see this little creature who was a bit of a lump for so many months all of a sudden able to get around on his own.
And NOW he's pulling himself up to stand, and trying out his baby walker thing, so it's only a matter of time before he's really causing chaos.
We've made some new friends through baby groups, albeit not extremely close ones. They're nice to get together with, though, and who knows. It's good to see friendly faces around town.
We've had visits from all of the grandparents, and we plan on venturing out to visit them in return in 2010. I'm certainly not looking forward to the new airline security BS that's been put forth with a baby in tow, but oh well. It's the price we have to pay to have someone in charge feel like they're looking like they're keeping us secure.
There's probably more to say, but I think that's about it for now. It's late here, and I'm tired. Happy New Year, everyone!
