We've got two area rugs now on top of our wall-to-wall carpeting. They look nice, but they keep shifting around, especially the one in the front hall. It's driving me mad. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop it? (something that doesn't involve easily removed sharp pointy things, as obviously we've got the dude dismantling anything ( Read more... )

You could try Sellotape Rug Gripper. It's supposed to work on top of carpeting, too, but I can't swear to it.

ooh thanks for the tip. That's just the sort of product I didn't know existed. :) I'll have a look, maybe they've got it at Wilko.

Velcro - attach the hooky part to the rug, and it should grip to the carpet.

what about one of those non-skid mats? I cut one to fit the boot of my car. (you can also get jar-grippers made out of the same material)...

non-skid mats? Are they something you get in a car shop, or in a DIY type place?

I have gotten it from an auto supply store (supercheap auto), and also seen it at Howard's Storage World. When I bought my futon, the furniture store gave me a roll of it, too.

I also wonder whether IKEA might not have some...
