I dont' think expressing yourself sexually lands you anywhere besides and STD clinic so whats the point? How many people who express themselves sexually are successful and respectful at the same time? I don't think men and women are equal nor should they be, that isn't to say women shouldn't get paid the same or whatever but i'm thinking of it in a family sense. Example: If you have kids someone should stay home with them instead of throwing them in daycare. Why pay other people to raise your kids? I'm aware of single parents and whatever but i'm talking about two-parent homes. This doesn't have anything to do with porn but i think porn is ridiculous and if pornography is how women plan to obtain an equal place in the world then maybe they should look another direction because that isn't going to do it.
Is a woman staying home with her children an unequal role? I don't think so. I dont think feminists believe that either they just get pissy if the woman is forced into that role instead of choosing to do it. However we know that becaues of double standards men typically make more money so wouldn't that be kind of backwards to send the man home and put the woman in the workforce? Plus like i replied to ami i think children bond more closely to their mothers in the beginning. Perhaps the bigger issue should be the children and not people quibbling over whether or not their right to express themself is being stepped on

I'm not going to attempt to completely ignore the fact that women are, to a degree, victimized and objectified by way of porn. Obviously it doesn't paint a very appealing picture or set a very realisitc standard sexually for the average woman. I mean who among us girls ACTUALLY has a 44 DD chest, a 28 inch waist, perfect tan, perfect hair, and can roll around in bed/in a field/on the beach/etc. for a good 45 minutes straight without breaking a sweat or smudging our (caked on) make up

I'm with you on all of that...except that while I'm not "anti-porn" advocate, I do think that it is so often brushed off as "no big deal." When in reality, it can be a big deal. It's pathetic that with the popularity and accessibility of internet porn, those women you described are exactly who young boys are regularly exposed to...but more than just the unrealistic expectation of image, I was concerned with what is being DONE to them. (Read the article I linked.) It's incredibly degrading and suboridinating activities. Yes, "regular old porn" is porn, whatever, people have sex. But when it's things which DEHUMANIZE women, there is the implication to young boys, that in relationships which should be about INTIMACY, you can just forget your partner is a HUMAN for those 10 minutes while in the sack and have your every little whim with them. No no, I completely agree with you on the types of porn that blatently display activities that make women out to be subhuman or weak. I personally wish that, while people should be free to express themselves, there should also be a tighter restriction as to what exactly gets put out on the internet. But at this day in age, what with file sharing, hacking codes, and the general ease of the internet, I don't see that hope as being very realistic. Which sucks. Because there are people out there who think that debasing another human being is "arousing" or that it "isn't really hurting anyone
