122 Near Disasters

Nov 21, 2008 14:44

Now that my katana has been restored to its proper place, I'd be glad of the opportunity to spar with someone. I've spent the better part of the week resting. A little light exercise is in order at this point.

super sexy boogeyman slayer, brings new meaning to history buff, my emo is a quiet emo, overachiever, sets off metal detectors at 100 feet, plays with sharp objects, i love my katana, body is a temple, ninja, where does he hide all those swords

A sword of Japanese design.

How's that different from a normal sword?

What is your definition of a normal sword?

Just... a sword. A long blade.

That's rather broad. I doubt anyone has cataloged the precise number of variations on that theme.

So what's a katana like, then?

To meet the definition, a sword must have a slender, curved, single-edged blade. The hilt typically has a circular or squared guard and a grip designed to accommodate two hands.

Doesn't sound all that different. Are you still looking for someone to spar?

The artistry is in the making and the history of the blade. I have had several offers today, but that doesn't preclude engagements at a later date if you'd be so inclined.

Yeah, sure. When?

Then I'll see you at the dojo.
