Breast Cancer is a Scam

Okay, breast cancer itself is not a scam, but breast cancer awareness month surely is. For one thing, the name is misleading. Is there anybody who isn't aware of breast cancer? You can get cancer in any part of your body. Your breasts are a part of your body. You can get cancer there. Got it ( Read more... )

Thank you. I'm glad to know somebody enjoyed my efforts. Almost posted this with a serious ending. As it stands now, the ending guarantees that I'll never be asked to write a public service announcement. :)

The only thing worse than not being taken seriously enough is being taken too seriously. I think I've managed to prevent that.

Good post. How the hell is wearing pink supposed to be helpful? Wouldn't it make more sense to just give someone with cancer six bucks to help them buy groceries or whatever than buy something that looks like Pepto Bismol?

And good choice of music.

Precisely. Unfortunately, people are too frightened or busy to actually help those in need, so they look for easy alternatives. It's not much different than TV preachers selling absolution.

Yes, one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums, and extremely relevant to my post.

(However, Chuck Schuldiner is not one of the three brain cancer victims I was thinking of, they were much closer.)
