You know, all over the news at the minute it's Norway, Norway, Norway. And yet, I come onto LJ and nothing. Apparently Norway and LJ, not in the same plane of existence ( Read more... )

The whole issue with the scene cutting infuriates me so much. From the very start it was clear that we didn't have all the facts, and as more facts came out it became ever more apparent that it was all a fuss over pretty much nothing, but people won't listen or change their minds. Grrr.

I can understand what you mean about the Debenhams thing, but for me it was the fact that Ianto wasn't entirely lying to Jack, rather than the fact that his father was 'better'. It wasn't about him having a better life, but about him being a better person who doesn't lie to his boyfriend so bizarrely.

I know it's a fairly irrational response, but it's a lot to do with over identifying with Ianto-as-presented-in-CoE as working class kid accidentally pushed up the ladder and having to deal with the middle class snobbishness around him. (And yes, I think fandom's ability to sit around and debate social issues with very little real evidence of it ever leading anywhere has an air of the Adults sitting around and talking of the Problem Children and What Shall We Do With Them? and it's a bit close to that scene in CoE where they sentenced all the poor kids to die because they are Not Enlightened People Like Us.)

And the whole scene cutting thing... I mean, we're going to end up losing about four seconds, is my prediction. And it'll be Barrowarse, possibly some groaning. And possibly a breast or a ladyarse. Dear Fandom, get those four seconds on Youtube. I blame Fandom. And Barrowman, who is like overreactive fandom paranoia with a big gob.

..Well, that's a lot more charitable than me (I was going with "it's not America, ergo it doesn't matter to the internet". But to be fair, it's just crazy unreal. It's Norway. I mean, it doesn't look like it was a foreign attempt, and it looks like it was one of their own crazy anti-muslim right wingers, but who would have thought that Norway was going to wake up to so many slaughtered kids?)
