It's time.

Time, that is, to change every single password I use. I've been stuck on some variant of the same one since... holy crap. 1996 or so. I have changed it to some degree over that time but it's basically still the same. Well it's time for me to move onto a password that I have never typed into Pine or ICQ ( Read more... )

the difficulty of explaining any system that I have is that it would then let you know how to figure out all of my passwords.

I'm thinking that all I need to do is append something related to a site's URL to a universal (and fairly simple) root and that should pretty much make me more of a pain than most of the other suckers.

Like I could start with "ticklefight" and then add the last three letters that precede the .com/.org/.net/.tv/.ca/.fm etc (this could be a problem if there is any domain with multiple sites that don't share one login/pwd though).

I kind of want to adjust my logins, too, but many sites don't let you do that without opening a new account. So I guess I'm stuck trying to remember those.

so this site would be
login: calamityjake
pwd: ticklefightnal

Maybe that's not enough though--I could imagine there being multiple sites with the same last three letters.

Instead of that, consider throwing in keywords that the site makes you think of? to like
calamityjake
ticklefightfriendsmoping (but again, depends on the password limit)

malloryissoawesome would be a really great password for you.

I had my MOO generate a password for me. Obviously I can't tell you mine, but something like... EnOLYSfL23. At first it's hard as hell to type but you eventually get used to it so you don't even have to think about it when you type it up.

But malloryissoawesome s still pretty great.

Yeah, a complicated password that is difficult to remember but becomes automatic is probably the way to go.

I use foreign languages always and numbers, and I have 4ish variations on it.

My first email's password was eM@ilkS - email in leet speak and my known initials. Strong, but was just so irritatingly dumb.
