LET THE LEARNING BEGIN

So today, was my first day back to school in over 5 years. WOW!  I have broken my experience down into categories.

THINGS I FORGOT:
     How incredibly long and cold the walk from the parking area to class really is.
     How much the university bookstore likes "raping" its students.

THINGS I MISSED:

In future semesters, consider looking for your textbooks on amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. If the profs re-order the same edition as in previous quarters, you can get yourself quite the deal.

Also, you'll notice a distinct lack of tests in graduate level classes. That's the trade-off for having to write big papers. My best piece of advice - don't wait until the last 2 weeks of the quarter like everyone else. Many profs offer extra credit for turning your paper in early. It might jump you from a B to an A.

One last point. Invest in APA and/or MLA handbooks and be ready to switch citation styles depending on the prof. I recently purchased _Cite Right: A Quick Guide to Citation Styles - MLA, APA, Chicago, the Sciences, Professions, and More_ by Charles Lipson from the University of Chicago Press.
