I think it might be possible I'm a leeeeetle bit in love with Craig Ferguson. I've never seen a full episode of this Late, Late Show before; it's pretty nifty.
"By the way," Craig says as he plays with the sonic screwdriver, "this is Doctor Who's, uhhh, magic pen." Pause. Then, to the camera, in beautfully sarcastic Scottishness, "I look forward to your corrections."
Oh, he has an awfully good Comedy English Accent, hurrah!
"Now for those of you who've never seen a Doctor Who, first of all 'WHT?!', secondly it's about a Time Lord...who travels through time in phone booth, AN IDEA THAT WAS FLAT OUT STOLEN BY BILL AND TED. STOLEN!" Yes, yes it was. Hurrah for Comedy Outrage!
"Doctor Who has been played by eleven different people - " That's the sort of info that gets lazy quiz show researchers into trouble -
hello, The Million Pound Drop - luckily, this is a chat show so nobody cares. (They did, however, neglect to actually clear the Doctor Who theme for use; Craig may mention this once or twice.)
Daleks: "a crunchy outer shell with a chewy squid inside."
OH NOW THERE IS A MATT SMITH, HURRAH! Oh, he is quite, quite adorable. And has a KEEN GRASP of American geography (I shouldn't mock; I was shocked when I found out Boston wasn't on the west coast.) Also, Craig would like him to get a tattoo of a Dalek. Matt has not met a bear. "Tom Baker did it for seven years," says Matt Smith, proudly displaying his learnings. He is refering to playing the Doctor, not meeting bears. To my knowledge, Tom Baker has never met a bear.
Craig enquires whether Matt watched the show when he was a kid. "No, because of what I call The Barren Age, where they took it off the air... so I didn't get it as a kid." WELL THAT'S NO EXCUSE. (...I know it's a perfectly good reason really.)
OH HE IS DANCING. EVERYONE IS DANCING BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY MATT SMITH IS DANCING. MORE OF THIS PLEASE.
AND NOW THERE A, UM, BAND DOING THE DOCTOR WHO THEME. A band of two harmonicas and a dude hummalking (this is like humming, but not, also probably not a real word) BUT STILL!
If you wish to view this shiny stuff, it's currently
up at YouTube.
Why is this show not shown in Britain? WE WOULD LIKE IT LOTS, THANKEE.
