The Inspector Space-Time Convention episode

So that episode of Community set at a Doctor Who Inspector Space-Time Convention? Conflicted feelings. On the one hand, Britta was BRILLIANT and actually properly brilliant too in a lovely and supportive and adorable way, and Jeff & Annie have never annoyed me less even though they were still really annoying. And Britta loved the female Inspector ( Read more... )

No, I felt the same way! It seemed very...generic? I expected there to be more jokes that were actually engaging the convention itself, and some sort of follow-up on Britta liking the female Inspector. It just seemed like they pulled up a really good set-up and then didn't do much with it.

(also I was hoping the show that Shirley and Pierce focus-grouped for would end up being more of an obvious joke at the TV movie or Torchwood!)

I thought that was the weakest this season, but the new people get major points from me for all the allowing Britta's good qualities to actually be good qualities and not just there to be torn down that they do.

Also, in reference to your previous post: Britta Jean Louise Finch I will never get over it.

I really enjoyed it, but in general, I've felt like this season hasn't been as funny as previous ones, and like you, am not really sure if that's because I know Dan Harmon left.

I think the timing has just gone completely this series. It's weird, because that should be a directing problem, not a writing problem, but that definitely seems to be the big change. It feels less like the jokes and more like the timing that's gone awry.

But the best part of that episode for me? Annie pretending to be Mrs. Winger. I just thought that was hilarious. I thought that whole plotline kind of petered out at the end, but it was a genuinely great moment in an otherwise disappointing episode.

Matt Lucas' performance was pathetic though.

Same thoughts. Despite this one being a decent episode in terms of plot and whatnot, I kept thinking that the show is screwed without Harmon.
