As for your translation, I found it a little confusing and hard to understand at first though after reading the Japanese's, I understand the reason why you put it that way. If you can reword it, it'll be a better translation. Though as to how, you'd have to wait for the comments from linguaphile.
I like how you always try to translate interesting topics and fun facts, though! Keep up the work! ^^

In this case, if the patient were a criminal, or somebody with some kind of background that doctor can hardly bear or the person actually the doctor hates... would it be possible for him to refuse the medical treatment ?
As one of Asian, I thought the profession like doctor is a holy job that he should do anything, he should devote his life to the profession and save the patient's life no matter what. But it was only the stereotype way of thinking. that was what I learned from the above. In western societies, they value individual freedom more.
