I remember, back when gas prices were well under $2/gallon, that gas stations used to display a huge digit for the dollar, smaller digits for the cents, and then the obligatory 9/10 at the end. For instance:
129 9/10

I also remember prices approaching $2/gallon: the gas stations had to order huge 2s for their price displays, because they *didn't have
