Airline security thoughts

As you can see here if you haven't heard already, there was some airline bombing plot that involved mixing a couple of liquids together to form an explosive and blowing some airplanes out of the sky. The solution involved temporarily banning all liquids on carry-on flights, which was probably the best thing to do on short notice (except that Read more... )

I agree with your first point, but your second point doesn't help with what this "plot" was, which (so I have heard) meant blowing up the planes without diverting their flight paths. In that case, it doesn't really matter if they can get into the cockpit.

Although personally I think the whole thing is a load of crap specially timed for the elections. Some coincidences are too glaring to ignore.

Well, the point about those (which I perhaps made a bit fuzzily) is that it's a waste to try and prevent this sort of plot through extremely tight security at the airport. Ultimately, the point isn't to protect against terrorist attacks against airports *specifically*; the point is to protect against terrorist attacks in general ( ... )
