It's no longer in me...I don't understand why, but it's gone. It was a dream that all of us have had at one point or another, or even still have...The desire to be known, to have one's name spoken across the world. The need to be remembered, to go down in history. I used to feel that, almost painfully so, but now it's gone, and I'm not sure ( Read more... )

Lol, melodrama ftw. After sleeping on it, I think that the night makes me way too serious somehow. *Shrugs* Oh well.

melodrama indeed.

I do hope you know that you should never stop writing...if you did, what would I have to read out in my hammock on the warm summer afternoons?

There is a quote from one of my favorite books, Running With Scissors, that sums up the way many of us have come to view ourselves and our futures in this world. It is from one of the author's biology teachers, who asked him, "Do you really want to be a doctor, or do you just want to play one on TV?" Too often we get swept up in the desire to be important/successful people out in the world, doing cool things and getting recognition, but the closer you come to actually doing what that sort of person does for a living (not the schmoozing or book signings or life saving but the real meat of it, the work, the writing, the scientific study) the more we realize that we have misjudged what it is that is involved in this endeavor. Do what you want with your life, I hope it leads to satisfaction be it in your writing or otherwise. Recognition and success follow in their own time, it's hard to force that sort of thing.
