Casserole & Dumplings

I'm trying a Vegetable (& soya mince) Casserole again. Last time I tried this, I couldn't get the vegetables to cook properly and it took hours. This time I pre-heated the oven first and I've left them in there a good 90 minutes so far with a lid on. We'll see ( Read more... )

Oh wow ... I was just thinking of doing a winter veg stew with dumplings tonight ... uncanny. Must be the weather.

I hunted around for a cheese dumpling recipe a while ago and came up with this one, which is made with egg, not suet or lard, and worked pretty well.

Can't you use something simple like vege suet, to make a real, traditional suet dumpling?

What IS vege suet anyway?
