Erm..... I think drinking hot drinks would work better than making yourself hot. Heating up your body too much could just make you iller

That much dry heat may dehydrate you. Twenty minute soaks in water as hot as you can stand is more effective and less straining. Use a cold compress on your forehead to prevent dizziness while soaking.

One of those packets of electrolytes in a liter of water will help with preventing dehydration.

Soup or broth with as much garlic, ginger and cayenne as you can stand would be helpful. Adding ginger to hot lemonade is another suggestion.

Garlic fights bacteria. Cayenne and ginger break up congestion and heat the body from the inside.

Avoid dairy products... they add to the congestion.

Extra vitamin C and zinc promote healing.

Gargling with warm salt water every hour cleans the tonsils.

I drink tea whenever I'M sick! Echinacea tea is best -echinacea and zinc fight colds best as near as I can tell.
