I know exactly what you mean about the financial aid thing. I'm actually going through something with my school right now where they said I can actually change my dependency status from 'dependent' to 'independent' by getting certain letters from certain people. It's really frustrating when you are on your own not getting any help from anyone and your still having to put your parent's income information on your FAFSA. It sucks!

i think it's stupid when you have your own taxes stating that you are the only one. it's all kinda messed up.the only way i can be changed from a dependent to an independent is to get married. california schools are a lot cheaper than georgia but they mess you up.

Yeah the school I am going to is $1200 per credit, it's really killing me. It's a private university but damn it's killing me! I usually have to pay around $1200 out of pocket every semester. I researched it a little bit and there is one other way you can change your dependent status on the FAFSA from 'dependent' to 'independent', you have to tell them you were "neglected" and send them a letter from you, a letter from a family member, and a letter from a member of the clergy (police, counselor, etc.). I am working on that right now, because I can't afford to do this. It's a shame I'm going through all of this shit just because I'm trying to get an education. And I am in Florida now so no more Hope grant.. :(
