Scientific illiteracy

I am so tired of scientific illiteracy.

Does anybody reading this need me to explain why the Large Hadron Collider is NOT a danger to our existence?

Be honest. Do you really trust Switzerland with the power to smash teeny-tiny marbles together at will?

I've trusted them to guard the pope for centuries. I can trust them with the LHC. Besides, part of it is in France....

I would like you to explain to me why there is concern that the Large Hadron Collider is a danger to our existence.

TO be honest, I'm not entirely certain. It began when some 'physicist' somewhere (I've never found the materials) calculated that the collisions occurring in the new Collider out east or the LHC could result in the creation of small black holes. That was it, that's all that ever made it out.

No one ever bothered to explain why it either wasn't possible or wasn't a risk.
