Qat: alcohol is against the rules in Islam, so the young folk smoke hash, or so I've been told.

Snow and shoppers: I didn't hear the story, but there was a radio story that said instead of "bread, milk and toilet paper" people are buying marshmellows.

I did some research before bed... Qat, pronounced cot, is an african herb, and it's leaves and stalks are chewed in qat houses. It has a large percentage of cohedrine in it's leaves, which is not unlike acetaminophen in it's makeup. Which is to say it's a painkiller, etc. Which chewing it seems to me releases the ...I wanna say nutrients but that might be bad, anyways, it releases these things to be absorbed into your bloodstream at a fastish pace. Which is probably faster than swallowing a tylenol and waiting for it to hit the affected area...
God help me I want some...
Course, the illegality of it is a deterrent, but only in the states...
=)
I will read more into it tonight, after my near 40 mb update is done...damned make me wait for my dsl people....=(
