Yay. I very much enjoyed your commentary. I agree that I think Meyer has a gift for getting inside the mind of a teenage girl. It's one of the reasons I think the series appeals to so many people.

As for the werewolf thing, remember that the Cullens have only lived there for three years. So the Cullens are partly to blame for triggering the werewolves, but they skipped out just as the werewolves were getting... PUN WARNING... warmed up. XD I believe it is explained more fully in Eclipse, although it's been a while since I've read the third one.

NM is also my fave cover. It's so gorgeous.

Did you have an opinion on the Volturi vampires introduced at the end? I have to admit, they're my favorite characters. :)

Hmm...I'd forgotten how long the Cullens had been there. So the vampires activate werewolves, but only those werewolves who are going to hit puberty? Is that right?

I don't have an opinion on the Volturi yet, as I don't feel I've seen enough. What I saw was interesting, but felt a little Anne Rice-ish to me. Maybe it was the names and the Italian setting? :)

I think the puberty thing varies a little. As far as I could tell, each werewolf can change at a different age. It just all depends.

The Volturi are certainly more of the "traditional" vampires of the world. Aro, the leader, amuses me to no end, though.

Okay, I want to start off by saying that I, too, am TEAM JACOB. I love Jacob. Although I hadn't figured this out til I finished the series.

New Moon is my favorite of all four books. I LOVE a book that can spark up real emotions in me, and this definitely did. I cried so much in this. I wasn't really a teenager when I fell in love with a guy... well, I was 19 when we fell in love and 20 when he left. But I thought Meyer described Bella's feelings perfectly. I had a stomach ache the entire week it took me to read this, because I remembered all the feelings I felt two and a half years ago. I found myself thinking, "wow, I felt just like that." As for Bella being selfish... who isn't at that age? I know I was.

I thought Twilight was terribly written, so reading this was like a breath of fresh air. No cheesey lines. Maybe one or two. Whereas when I read Twilight I was rolling my eyes every ten pages.

This is the only book I will consider reading again out of the four. Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are good too but not like

Yeah, I don't mind Bella being selfish at this stage, because it's realistic. Frustrating, but realistic. :)

I really liked your review of the book, mainly because I agree completely.

I'm a teacher and I've read the series mainly because I want to keep myself updated to teenagers' likes and dislikes. After reading it, I understood why so many of my (girl mainly) students liked it. I thought Bella was like a teenager, albeit a sel-centered and spoiled one. The book has its flaws but it's easy to read. All in all, I agree. :)

I just recently read this one (and I'm reading Eclipse now) and this reveiw reflects my take on the book as well. (And I'm biased towards Jacob, too.) After reading Twilight, I wasn't sure if I was going to continue with the series because I found Meyer's writing to be a bit choppy in that book and I hated Bella, as she seemed to be a lot like a Mary Sue. New Moon, thankfully, wasn't like that. In comparison to a lot of the paranormal romances for adult readers, I find that I like the Twilight series much more. I think the reason for that is because the subject is approached more maturely by the author than others do and I wonder if one of the reasons people don't like it them is because they're being made into films.

Loved your review. Out of the four books in the series, this one's my favorite. :)
