Yeah, there's plenty to be worried about, but it's not fully developed and I won't know if these worries are worthwhile until the rest of the trilogy comes out. I hope that Calla, for example, gets to fight back--she learns that the Guardian history may have been manipulated by the Keepers to keep them in line, which hopefully means that she'll fight back against everything else she's been taught. And the potential for the evil gay guy, I hope this character shies away from that stereotype, because other than that odd tension, he seems like a nice guy.
But yeah, I figured the romance focus alone would drive you away. :)
My verdict solely depends on my interest. I won't be picking these up as hardcovers, so I'll read them if they're SUPER cheap or free. :) I'm interested, but not THAT interested, you know?
I think I might have this book on my TBR (yes it is sad I am not sure). Anyway, not sure whether I will like this one or not from your review so I think I'm still on the "will read this when I get to it" side, although cliffhangers I do not like.
This cliffhanger didn't bug me as much as, say, Kelley Armstrong's The Summoning, but then again, I was on pain pills.
It's an enjoyable read, easy to fly through, but as I was telling TJ up there, it's hard to tell if the potential problems will really pan out as PROBLEMS until the trilogy's complete, you know?
No prob! It's quite the fast read, but I really don't think it's worth hardcover prices. Now if you can find the hardcover super-cheap, that's another story...
