I'm glad BFing is going better. Good luck on getting rid of the shield but I'm glad it at least helps you latch. They are not as bad as they used to be, just watch your supply...maybe pump a bit after a few feedings while still using the shield for a bit of extra stimulation.
In order to sue you have to be able to prove damages. As it heals, the "damages" definition becomes more abstract. Do report and complain. Talk to a lawyer if you want but maybe wait until things settle down to save your energy for now. You have time after neonatal injuries, I think until the child is 18. Do take photos and save them. Poor baby.
And yes, I've seen many botched circumcisions. It is inherently a risky procedure even when done properly it frequently causes unintended harm in addition to the intended body mod. Sometimes the harm is extreme, like in your child's case. Sometimes it is milder but still not limited to the intended outcome. I'd say unintended but mild additional effects are actually the norm.
The problem is that most people don't know how a normal penis should function because in this society, most men don't have them anyway.
I can't get over the last comment I read that one woman was still on the fence about having it done since her partner has been circumcised. I'm pretty sure that if this mom knew it was going to happen, she would NOT have chosen it. It's just a crapshoot! You never really know what's going to happen.

ouch.
and who knows how that will affect that child when they become an adult and things don't "look" right or act correctly due to scar tissue buildup.
