my friends are going nuts applying for college.. it's everywhere i turn. i guess i'm watching from a safe distance. why is there a stigma about community colleges? it's not like slacker school... it's college, the same classes as anywhere else, but it's cheap. and close. i've known too many people who got straight a's in high school and went away ( Read more... )

^_^

I have very similar sentiments.

I like change but am horrified by an "unknown change", I'm afraid of being independent.

And I'm scared of not surviving.

I would go to a community college, I have nothing against it.
Only my parents would not pay for my expenses and would probably kill me.

i totally agree with you! I hate change too, but i have adapted well to it, because i'm always moving.

Right now my main goal is UCB, and if I don't get in to that college, than I'll pick DVC over any other UC. DVC is cheap, and the classes are also very small, which is something i prefer :]

And you know our plan! If I go to DVC than we can take classes together!

Nah uh byotch, she's coming to UCSD!

HAHA...its funny how we both are like planning her life. Watch, she probably won't do either one and like...go to Iowa for college or something. HAHA.

That would amuse me.

Community college is 13th grade. Its a lot like High School. University is NOT.

Thats the difference. You get a lot of help in Community College. In University the Profesors just don't care. So Community College is easier and like 10:1 instead of 500:1 (in a university).

I personally am going straight to University because steryotypically, only people who can't get into a University go to Southwestern, and I certainly can get in.

If I don't get into UCSD though, I'll probably go to a Community College, because I want to go to UCSD.

But really - my MAIN motivation for UCSD is to live in a dorm. I want the hell out of my house. Parents are too much to tak. So then I'd only HAVE to see my Mom during holidays (Xmas, Spring Break, Summer) and I wouldn't have to see my Dad at all if I didn't want to.

I respectfully disagree.

DVC staff don't give two shits about anyone. It's a rare and precious gift to find a professor who will happily give you the time of day.

And everyone here is ugly, which somehow makes things I worse. I suspect the cynicism and bitterness and downright apathy finally takes physical form.

Well...I live in San Diego and every professor I've had at the Community College that I attend have really loved me and gone over and above to help me however they can. But then I'm a High School student taking Community College classes, not a person who couldn't get into a University so went to Community College.

So I might be a little biased and have gotten different treatment than most people or something. Who knows?

Or maybe that's just San Diego, and this is just DVC.

I doubt professors here have much incentive to be kind and sweet and make academic love to you.

That last sentence was wrong on so many levels. Oh well.

That's what I'm gonna do. Take some courses at DVC and then decide what I want to do after that. I haven't fell into the college crazy. :p
