From the FF.net review file... Posted in its entirety, because it is a big greasy blob of loveliness. Name Censored to protect the, ah... well
( Read more... )
It's "And Never Been Kissed." Barely slash (it only got the mature rating because of OldGayManBeardKissing, I didn't want the little'uns to be traumatized). It's with my other stories at Skyehawke.
(I know! I read that and I was so tempted to buzz on over to her story and leave reviews of a made-up time travel fic where Remus traveled ahead to a futuristic society and Hermione had had a sex change. And maybe it'd be all Logan's Run, too.)

Sorry for not logging in to post--LJ made me change my password and I apparently wrote it down wrong. I'm waiting for them to email it to me. I'm Sharakhtoo

Oh, yeah. I heard someone use the term 'slash' to refer to, you know, romance-y type writing a very long time ago--but honestly, if it used to mean non-canonical relationships, I think it's become so co-opted by those of us only writing gay (more or less) relationships that it really doesn't mean what it used to. I'm not sure where it changed, but to slashers, slash only means slash. (Of course, I've only been slashing for a few years.) Even when I was poking around the Tolkien fandom (mea culpa, I arrived after the first movie), the old schoolers used slash to mean gay relationships (Gimli/Legolas is so canon).
(Btw, I once wrote for the Buffy fandom. Ah, to be sixteen and sexually confused again. ...Oh, wait. I guess one out of two is an improvement.)
:) Thanks--Snape is my OTP(erson), really. I can put up with almost anyone else beside him.
Heh, I may be strange but I always appreciate reviews like this. It's easy to charm an OTPer of the pairing you wrote, but to pursuade a person who doesn't like the pairing that your writing is still good, it's an achievement, of sorts :)
It's cute, I think. It wouldn't be cute if she was mean about it. (And then that little part where she says she dashed out to get on the bus--sorry, that's adorable.)
Ooohhh, you tweaked the ending? Races over to skyhawke.
Vis a vis review: can't understand why someone would read a story with a pairing that has them searching for a stray fork with which to immediately blind themselves. That's the first thing I noticed. The rest of it, I would take in the manner to which I think it was meant. She/he really likes you writing.
I added to the sex scene (wanted Severus to get a little action--now I don't know if it goes on too long or not, enh). Cleaned up some of the florid bits. It's not all that different, really (don't get your hopes up).
Oh, yeah, I'm not offended by the review. It was just kinda... buh? Okay.
Oh, God no. It doesn't go on too long. How could you even think that? Oh yes, everyone on your flist should get her hopes up. Because as you've now expanded it, that scene uses sex as a form of characterization, as well as anything I've ever read.
I left a longer review over at skyehawke, but here I'll just say that the additions are well worth checking out. Hell, any excuse to reread that story works, for me.
YAY! *Applies the big 'V' stamp of approval* I could probably go and smooth and tweak until the end of time and never ever be totally satisfied with any story (not that they wouldn't benefit from a little whitewash every now and again), so I usually just write them and leave them, but this one needed a little more. I guess this is the Director's Cut version. :)
Thank you! *Toddles off to shamelessly read Skyehawke review and giggle*
No! I hadn't! (I thought some of it was borderline disturbing, but aren't we all? Go, Alan, go!)
Not only is all of that so cute--but I recognize the name! Neil Cicierega--He's the same guy who helped with the flash for ebaumsworldsucks.com! How great. Seriously, he's just cooler and cooler.
I too would like to praise you for not using chatspeak, and for the relative shortage of grammatical errors in your prose. You're also to be commended for getting the characters' names right (nice job changing all instances of "Orli" to "Harry" when adapting that Lotrips plot bunny for HP, for example). Keep up the good work! :)
(And no, I haven't forgotten Soft Place. I will not forget Soft Place, I swear. Give me time!)
Best news I've had all week!
*runs off to read enhanced "Fourth Year" sex scene*
Admit it. You totally write Hermione/Remus time travel slash.
Oi, Frodo/Sam slash is one thing. Don't make me get scared by Vorlijah or whatever they've got up to around those parts. (I'm a total weirdo, but RP slash--while very hot, occasionally--bothers me on a level that even watersports or pony play or any other strange fetish doesn't. *Lives behind the 'it's fictional!' curtain*)
Soft Place? Honestly, I've got five versions of a 'we're snuggling' scene. It's appalling. Have sex, you two! *Thwaps characters* They're doing it, this time, so help me.

Well, not yet, but you're making me consider Hermione/Remus/time travel slash. Is time travel male or female, I wonder? That will affect the whole dynamic.

Ditto. Too much blurring of fantasy and reality. I like to keep those as separate as I keep my peas and mashed potatoes. Pony play, I just don't get. Makes about as much sense to me as elephant play or parakeet play.
Male, geez. (Because the parts are more fun. Well, to read about, anyway. I sorta like mine, personally. Okay, new subject.)
...Yes! I always feel so weird going, 'You know, most chan, I can take or leave--EW! REAL ADULTS!' Now, Pony Play, if it were mostly 'ooh, ride me'--then I could see it working. But not if they're just going to be treated like horses. That's... I don't know, to each his own, I guess.
Parakeet play. *Headdesk, imagines perches and mirrors and sunflower seeds*

(also...I want to know how this person wrote Hermione/Remus slash. Do they live in an alternate universe where het is slash? :))
