Actually I think the fat/thin divide represents--and will increasingly represent--class divisions....socioeconomic divisions. Think about it: when you walk around in upscale, urban areas--you don't see a whole hell of a lot of really fat people. When you go to mid-market malls, exurban or rural areas---oy, obesity central...! And those fat people don't seem to care--they're out eating all kinds of shitty stuff. It's a whole different world--and the 2 worlds are getting farther apart, I think. Don't you?
